Because the Sun Shines Year Round
Sun Safe Skincare Isn’t a Seasonal Endeavor
Make the Promise!

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again. By-and-large many of us associate the application of sunscreen, and the positioning of floppy hats and sun-safe garments as a summertime initiative. Sure, the sun shines brightest (and hottest) during the summer months, but practicing proper skincare as it relates to sun-safe behavior isn’t exclusive to summer. We collectively need to change our sun-safe habits immediately. Because even a cloudy day won’t completely block out the sun’s harmful UV rays.

Did You Know?
Up to 80% of the sun’s rays can pass through clouds
The fact is, the sun doing damage isn’t due to the temperature. We often associate a sun burn in the same light as burning food on the stove. But, in reality, it has nothing to do with how hot the sun is beating down at all. It’s all in those UV rays. So, take a look around. Be it summer, autumn, winter, or spring. The sun’s rays are abound. Even when it’s overcast, it’s still up there. Sure, the threat isn’t as high on those cloudy days, but it’s a threat nonetheless.
Think about the glare you get off the snow in the wintertime, or as it melts and emanates off the puddles on the ground. That’s the sun’s UV rays bouncing off those elements and potentially causing harm to your skin, regardless of the temperature of the air. In fact, in the wintertime, you might be opening your skin up to double exposure. You’re getting hit with UV as the sun’s rays pass down from the sky, and you’re also getting hit with the rays that reflect off the snow. Studies show that the snow reflects up to 80% of the sun’s UV light. That’s a whole lot of ouch.

Nowhere in there does it mention “in the summertime.”
