Stay Safe, In General, and When You’re Out There in the Sun!

FIND SUPPORT

We’re living in a curious time. Yes, we just stated the obvious, but, sometimes the obvious is the best thing to say. In a time of uncertainty, and widespread lockdown in an attempt to preserve our local, regional, national, and global health, we need to adapt to the changes around us while remembering to be mindful of things we already know.

Though the news of pandemic has been trying, on the bright side, the weather has been beautiful here in the Northeast. A lot of us, now confined to working (and schooling!) from home, took advantage of the weather and got in a healthy dose of fresh air in-between the “business as usual” we were looking to accomplish in our home office, or at our kitchen table, or, heck, in bed(!). Some of us here at IMPACT were among those walking around in our community and we noticed that people were not wearing sun protective clothing. We’re not pointing fingers; we’re just offering a “friendly reminder” (we’re pointing fingers – anonymously…).  Sure, it’s not summer, but skin care, and preventative measures need to be taken year round.

What does this mean?

  • Seek shade during peak hours (generally 11am – 3pm)
  • Wear your hats
  • Wear your sunglasses
  • Cover your skin with clothing
  • Use sunscreen on exposed areas of the body
  • Reapply sunscreen every two hours

By all means, get outside, enjoy the fresh air, and take advantage of this unique moment in time, but, don’t forget to take precautions! They’re as important as washing your hands… Trust us.

While we have – and on the topic of schooling from home (for all you parents out there) – we know that you’re likely looking for different ways to offer your kids unique and engaging educational opportunities. With that in mind, why not take our Your Skin Is In program for a spin? It’s easy, informative, and fun. And what’s more is, if your student is middle school, high school, or college aged, they can apply for a scholarship opportunity to boot! What!? YES, IT’S TRUE! Teachers, you can earn money for your classroom too!

All the information you need to get started is right here (click it).

If you’ve got young ones at home and are looking for a fun activity book to peruse, check out our Sun Safe Activity Book – “Mission: Sunwise”!

And finally, if you’re a hair and beauty professional, consider taking this time to become a Skinny On Skin Certified Professional for when things get back to normal and up and running as they were before this pandemic hit. Position yourself as not only an asset to your clients’ beauty needs, but also, as an advocate to help better their health by spotting suspicious moles and/or lesions on their skin and in their scalp. You can find more information and our trusty e-learning platform right here.

Stay safe, and stay healthy our friends! We’ll get through this, and we’ll see you all very soon!
